Hatches are difficult to predict with any real level of precision in the Rockies, many variables contribute to the performance of the varied species of aquatic insect. Snowfall levels from year to year will have immense impacts on instream flows, and temperatures, all of which will have an effect on incubation times, as well as growth and survival rates.

Despite that, we are confident in predicitng that specific hatches will occur within a given time frame +/- about 1 week. The degree or intensity of the hatch however is better determined at around 30 days prior to the actual expected event.
