Enjoy the scenery, birds and wildlife of the Columbia Valley Wetlands while leisurely floating through a wilderness setting. View Osprey, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons in their natural habitat.
|
||||
| The Columbia River Wetlands are situated in the Rocky Mountain Trench starting in the town of Golden and not far from Banff National Park and Lake Louise, a distinct feature 1600 km long and 3 - 16 km wide, which is visible from the moon. No other wetlands in the province of British Columbia support such a diversity of wildlife. 270 species of birds have been recorded for the area. Many amphibians and reptiles, like painted turtles not found elsewhere in western Canada, thrive here. This major breeding ground for bald eagle, osprey, and great blue heron is the largest wetland west of Manitoba covering 26,000 hectares (64,246 acres).
